Moving Day at the Farm, Big Changes and New Beginnings

Post Categories

Welcome to a very special update from all of us here at Faithful Flock Farm. It is a beautiful Friday, February 27, 2026, and the air carries a hint of the coming spring that always fills our hearts with such hope. There is a certain rhythm to life on the farm, a steady beat of waking up with the sun and resting when the stars come out, but today that rhythm had a little extra skip in its step.

We have been through quite a bit of transition lately, and we are so incredibly thankful for each and every one of you who has walked this journey with us. Your support means more than just moving egg cartons, it means our hens feel appreciated and our work feels purposeful. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful community of regular customers who choose to bring our local food into their homes.

The Colors of Gratitude in Every Carton

One of the most frequent questions we get is about the colors in our egg baskets. Right now, we are so pleased to share that the girls are producing more consistently again. There is something so satisfying about seeing a bowl full of those beautiful, sturdy brown eggs. They are the backbone of our current production, and we have plenty available for those of you looking to stock up your refrigerators.

The white layers are taking their time getting back into the full swing of things, which is just fine by us. We believe in letting our birds follow their natural cycles without any pressure. Every now and then, as a little treat for the soul, our green egg girls will surprise us with a few gems. Those soft, seafoam colors always bring a smile to our faces when we find them in the nesting boxes.

A Big Day for the Teenagers and Mama’s Hens

Today was a momentous occasion for several members of our flock. If you have visited us recently, you know that Mimi’s Coop has been a bustling hub of activity for our growing teenagers and some of Mama’s hens who have officially started their laying journey. However, the time came for them to graduate to a larger space where they can truly spread their wings.

The big move into Mercy’s Coop happened today, and it was a sight to behold. Moving chickens is always an exercise in patience and gentleness. We want them to feel safe and secure as they enter their new home. Mercy’s Coop offers more room and eventually access to the lovely woods that the older birds enjoy so much. It is a big step up in the world for these youngsters.

The Welcome Committee at the Fence

What touched our hearts the most today was the reception the newcomers received. All day long, the current residents of Mercy’s Coop, both the girls and the boys, gathered at the fence. It was like a neighborhood welcome committee had been formed spontaneously.

There was no fussing or feathers flying, just a lot of curious looks and friendly chatter through the wire. It is always a relief when transitions go this smoothly. Seeing the birds meet each other with such friendliness reminds us of the peace we strive to maintain across our entire farm. Tonight is the official move in, where they will all settle onto the roosts together for the first time, and we feel confident they are all going to be just fine.

Blonde and Big Red, A New Conversation

In the midst of all the moving day excitement, we noticed a very specific friendship forming. One of our teenagers, a spirited bird we call Blonde, has been chatting up a storm with Big Red all day long. Big Red is a prominent figure in Mercy’s Coop, and he seemed quite taken with the new visitor.

We spent quite a bit of time watching them exchange little clucks and murmurs back and forth across the boundary. It will be very interesting to see how their dynamic evolves once the sun goes down and they are officially roommates. Blonde has a lot of personality, and it seems she is not at all intimidated by the move into the big coop.

The Next Generation in Little Haven

While the older girls are moving into their new digs, we still have a nursery full of life in Mama’s house. Our newest little ones are taking it easy and enjoying the warmth and safety of their current space. Among them are Mohawk, Feisty, Dolly, who we also affectionately call Little Bit, and Sunshine.

These little characters are growing more adventurous by the hour. They are very ready for their own graduation, which will happen soon. Their first stop will be Little Haven, our small gray coop that serves as a perfect middle ground. From there, they will eventually move to Mimi’s Coop and then finally join the others in Mercy’s Coop to enjoy the shade of the trees. It is a beautiful cycle of growth that we never grow tired of witnessing.

Quality Control and Canine Supervision

Of course, no major operation at Faithful Flock Farm happens without the watchful eyes of our dedicated security team. Milo, our loyal Maltese, has been making his rounds to ensure every gate is latched and every hen is accounted for. He takes his job very seriously, though he is always happy to stop for a quick ear scratch.

Panda Bear, our black and white Shih Tzu, has also been on top of quality control. She tends to supervise from a more relaxed position, usually finding a sunny spot where she can keep an eye on the transition from Mimi’s to Mercy’s. Between the two of them, we know the farm is in good paws. They bring so much joy and a sense of completeness to our daily chores.

Bringing the Farm Story Home to You

We want our relationship with you to be about more than just a simple transaction. We believe that when you buy food from a local farm, you are becoming a part of that farm’s history. To celebrate that connection, we have started a new tradition that we are very excited about.

With each visit to the farm to pick up your eggs, you will receive a chapter from our Faithful Flock Farm story. We want to share the tales of the animals, the lessons we have learned from the land, and the faith that keeps us going. It is our way of inviting you deeper into the wholesome life we are building here.
