We have been holding our breath for what feels like weeks, but the wait is finally over. That special little green egg, the one we have all been watching so closely in the incubator, has finally cracked open to reveal a beautiful new life. There is something so incredibly moving about the moment a chick first breaks through its shell, and we are so grateful to be able to share this miracle with all of you today.
It happened early this Tuesday morning, just as the sun was beginning to peek over the horizon and cast its soft glow across the barn. There is a specific kind of silence that fills the air at dawn, a quiet that feels full of possibility. We had noticed a tiny pip in the shell late last night, which was our first signal that the journey was beginning. We knew it wouldn't be long now, but even with all the experience we have here on the farm, the excitement never really goes away.
Watching a chick hatch is a lesson in strength and perseverance. That tiny bird has to work so hard to make its way into the world, peck by peck, and it is a reminder that some of the most beautiful things in life require a great deal of effort. When she finally tumbled out, tired and wet but very much alive, we couldn't help but feel a sense of overwhelming peace. She is finally here, and she is perfect.

The Morning Watch
While we were busy checking the temperature and making sure the brooder was warm, we weren't the only ones keeping a close eye on the situation. Milo and Panda Bear were right there with us, acting as the most devoted little guardians you could imagine. If you’ve visited us before, you know that our dogs are a huge part of the family, and they take their jobs very seriously.
Milo, our white Maltese, was particularly fascinated by the soft chirping sounds coming from the incubator. He kept his nose pressed right up against the glass, his tail giving a tiny, cautious wag every time he heard a movement. He has such a gentle spirit, and it was sweet to see him so curious about this tiny new addition to our flock.
Panda Bear, our black-and-white Shih Tzu, took a slightly more relaxed approach to his duties. He sat nearby with that steady and calm presence he is known for, watching the whole process with a look of quiet wisdom. It is as if he knew that everything was going to be just fine, and his calm energy really helped settle the nerves of everyone in the room. They are such a wonderful pair, and seeing them interact with the smaller creatures on the farm is always a highlight of our day.
A Lesson in Patience and Faith
This little green egg has been a symbol of hope for us over the last few weeks. In our busy lives, it is so easy to want things to happen on our own schedule. We live in a world that moves so fast, yet nature follows its own rhythm, a rhythm that cannot be rushed or forced. This hatch was a beautiful reminder of the importance of patience and trusting in a process that is much larger than ourselves.
We often talk about the miracle of life here at Faithful Flock Farm, but seeing it happen in real time really grounds our faith. It reminds us that God’s timing is always perfect, even when we are tapping our fingers and wishing for things to move a bit faster. The chick didn't hatch when we wanted it to, but it hatched exactly when it was supposed to.
When we look at this tiny creature, so small and yet so full of life, we see the hand of the Creator in every feather and every chirp. It is a testament to the beauty of the natural world and the grace that surrounds us if we only take the moment to stop and look for it. We feel so blessed to be stewards of this land and the animals that call it home, and we hope that this story brings a little bit of that peace to your day as well.

Celebrating New Beginnings
The timing of this hatch feels particularly special because we are also preparing for another big "hatch" of sorts. This coming Saturday, February 28th, is the official launch of our new book! It has been a long journey of writing, editing, and pouring our hearts onto the pages, and we are so excited for you to finally hold it in your hands.
The book is titled Tales of Faithful Flock Farm, and it is filled with stories just like this one, moments of joy, lessons learned in the dirt, and the many ways that life on the farm has shaped our faith. It feels like the stars have aligned, having this little chick arrive just days before we share our stories with the world. You can find more information about where to find us on our upcoming events page.
We hope you will join us for the launch, as it would mean the world to have our community there to celebrate with us. Just like the green egg, this book has been a labor of love that required a lot of waiting and a lot of faith. We are so looking forward to seeing where these stories go and how they might touch the hearts of others who love the farm life as much as we do.
We Need Your Help!
Now that our little miracle is out of her shell and settling into her new home, she is in desperate need of a name. Since she came from such a unique green egg, we want a name that is just as special as she is. We have been tossing around a few ideas, but nothing has quite stuck yet, so we are turning to you for suggestions!
Do you have a favorite name that evokes feelings of springtime, miracles, or the beautiful green color of her egg? Perhaps something inspired by nature or a name that reflects the joy she has brought to the farm this morning. We would love to hear your thoughts, so please feel free to reach out to us through our contact page or leave a comment on our social media.
We always love hearing from our neighbors and friends, and your input makes being a part of this community so much fun. We will be sure to share the final choice once we've had a chance to see more of her personality shine through. In the meantime, you can check out more photos of her and the rest of the flock in our photo gallery.

Looking Forward
As we move into the rest of the week, our hearts are very full. There is still much work to be done on the farm, eggs to collect, gardens to tend, and preparations to finish for the book launch, but we are moving through it all with a renewed sense of gratitude. These small moments, like a single chick hatching on a Tuesday morning, are what make this life so rewarding.
Thank you for being part of our journey and for following along with the story of the green egg. Your support and encouragement mean more to us than we can say. We invite you to keep an eye on our farm update section for more news as our new little friend grows and starts exploring the world outside of her brooder.
Life is a series of small miracles, and we are so glad we get to experience them alongside you. We hope your week is filled with your own moments of wonder, and that you find reasons to be grateful for the timing of your own life's events. We will see you soon, hopefully at the book launch this Saturday!
With love and gratitude,
Amy and the Faithful Flock Farm Family
