A Dozen Eggs and a Tale to Tell: Introducing Our Farm Story Collection

It is a beautiful Monday morning here at Faithful Flock Farm, and with St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, March 17th, the farm is feeling extra bright and cheery, even with today’s surprise snow flurries drifting through. We are sitting down with our peppermint hot chocolate, watching the light hit the pastures, and smiling at those Lucky Green Eggs in the baskets. There is always something happening on the farm, whether it is a new hatch or a lesson learned from the weather, and this week comes with a little holiday fun too.

Of course, late-season snow also means a little extra work. We had to head back out and get the coop water heaters running again, just to make sure the girls stay comfortable and hydrated through the chilly stretch.

We have some really exciting news to share with our local community and our friends from afar. We believe that when you buy a dozen eggs from us, you are not just getting breakfast. You are becoming a part of our story, and this week, our story feels a little more lucky and a little more festive.

A Lesson in Scale: The Bowl Lid Revelation

Before we get into the new program, I have to share a funny little update about our newest arrivals. If you saw our recent photos of the tiny Serama chicks, you might have noticed them standing on what looked like a professional brooder tray. Well, I have a confession to make, and it gave us all a good laugh this morning.

That was not a brooder tray at all. It was actually just the lid of a plastic bowl! That is how incredibly tiny these little ones are. When we say they are pocket-sized fluff balls, we really mean it. A simple kitchen lid looks like an entire playground to them.

Newly hatched chicks of various colors gathered closely together

It is a wonderful reminder of the "stewardship of the small" that we practice here. Whether it is a tiny chick that fits on a bowl lid or our larger heritage breeds, every single life is precious. We spend so much time making sure these little ones are warm, safe, and loved from the very first chirp.

Introducing the "Egg Story" Collection

We know that many of you come to the farm specifically for our pasture-raised eggs. You see the different colors, from the deep browns to the vibrant greens, and this week those greens feel especially on theme. Consider them our little Lucky Green Eggs for St. Patrick’s Day.

But there is so much more that happens behind the scenes between the time an egg is laid and the time it reaches your carton. We wanted to find a way to share those moments with you, so we are introducing the Faithful Flock Farm Egg Story Collection. This is a special program designed just for our local customers who stop by the farm to pick up their weekly eggs, and it pairs perfectly with a holiday that is all about finding small bits of joy.

It is our way of saying thank you for supporting local agriculture and being such a vital part of our community.

Here is how the new program works:

Every time you purchase a dozen eggs, you will receive a printed "Egg Story" snippet. These are short, heartwarming tales about our hens, a rooster or two, Milo, and Panda Bear, plus the little lessons we learn about faith and nature. Mama even works some of these snippets into her books, so the moments you read at your kitchen table sometimes live on in print too.

How the Ticket System Works

To make it even more fun, we have created a little ticket system to help you keep track of your collection. Since this is a brand new program, everyone starts with Story #1, even our wonderful long-time regulars. We are all beginning this journey together from the first chapter, no matter how many dozens you have picked up in the past.

Here is the simple part: every egg carton includes a ticket that shows which story number you just picked up. You also receive the matching "Egg Story" snippet, and that story is yours to keep and treasure as you build your own personal collection of farm tales.

The ticket keeps everything in sequence on our end, but the stories themselves do not have to be read in order. They are not chapters in a book; they are funny, heartwarming weekly occurrences from around the coop and yard.

When you return for your next dozen, you simply exchange your ticket for a new one, and you will receive the next story in the series. This way, neither you nor our farm team has to remember what number comes next; the ticket does the work.

Some of our regular friends who visit twice a week might move through their collection a little faster, and that is totally fine. We love getting to see you more often.

And since St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow, we love the idea of tucking a story into your egg pickup like a little lucky find. A dozen eggs, a numbered snippet, and a green-egg holiday twist, it is simple and sweet, just the way we like it.

We want this to be a way for families to connect. Imagine sitting around the breakfast table, enjoying your farm-fresh eggs, and reading the latest update about what Milo the Maltese or Panda Bear the Shih Tzu has been up to. It brings a little bit of the farm into your home.

Story #4: Weathering the Storm

Mama just finished writing Story #4, and it is very close to our hearts because it covers the big storm we had this past weekend. This storm is separate from the storm story in Mama’s upcoming book, "Trusting God through the Storm", even though both are rooted in the same kind of real-life lessons the weather can bring.

If you are just starting your collection this week, you will still begin with Story #1. Then each pickup earns the next story in order. That means new collectors will not receive Story #4 right away, but you will reap that story in due season, once you have collected the first three.

Also, since we are stepping into St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, we will say it like this: it feels a little lucky to be safe and steady after a storm. We are grateful, and we are ready for a brighter, greener week.

The wind was howling, and the rain was heavy, but the coop remained a place of peace. This story talks about how we prepared the birds, the extra bedding we laid down to keep everyone dry, and the way the chickens look out for one another when things get a bit noisy outside.

It is a story about protection and trust. Even when the weather is wild, there is a sense of calm that comes from knowing you are cared for. We think you are really going to enjoy reading about how the flock huddled together and how Milo and Panda Bear kept a watchful eye from the window.

For Our Friends Near and Far

We know that not everyone who follows Faithful Flock Farm lives close enough to drop by for eggs. We have friends all over the country who check in on our farm updates and follow the growth of our chicks. We don't want you to feel left out!

While the "Egg Stories" are a local exclusive, you can still stay deeply connected to the adventures of our flock through Mama’s book series. Mama has a real gift for capturing the spirit of the farm on paper, and her books are filled with the same heart and soul you find in our daily work.

Her first book, "When God Plants a Farm," came out before St. Patrick’s Day, and it is already available on Amazon. It tells the beautiful story of how this dream began and the faith it took to bring it to life. If you would rather grab a copy in person, paperback copies will be available at the farm starting April 1st, or you can get it on Amazon sooner.

But that is just the beginning! Mama has already written several more books that will be coming out very soon. These upcoming titles focus on the specific personalities that make our farm so full of life. You will get to read more about:

  • Milo, our brave and loyal Maltese dog, who takes his job of "supervising" very seriously.
  • Panda Bear, our sweet black-and-white Shih Tzu dog, who provides the cuddles and keeps everyone smiling.
  • The endless adventures of our hens, roosters, and those tiny Serama chicks.

Whether you are reading a short snippet from an egg carton or a full-length book from Amazon, the goal is the same. We want to share the joy of stewardship and the beauty of a life lived close to the land.

A Community Built on Care

At the end of the day, Faithful Flock Farm is about more than just agriculture. It is about community. We are so blessed to have neighbors who care about where their food comes from and friends who find inspiration in our journey.

Every egg we sell and every story we write is a small way of planting seeds of hope and connection. And for a little St. Patrick’s Day fun, we are celebrating tomorrow by doing something that feels especially fitting for our little farm, we are putting green eggs and those rare black Ayam Cemani eggs into the incubator together for a truly “lucky” hatch.

We believe that we are called to be good stewards of everything we have been given, and that includes the stories that happen here every day.

If you haven't been by the farm in a while, we would love to see you! You can check out our products or see what is happening in the photo gallery. We are always working on something new, and we can’t wait to share the next chapter with you.

Thank you for being a part of our flock. Whether you are local and collecting your story tickets or following along from a distance through Mama's books, your support means the world to us.

If you have any questions about the new story program or want to check on egg availability, please feel free to contact us. We love hearing from you and sharing the latest news from the coop!

One more little behind-the-scenes update before we go. Mama is currently finishing up the images for her next book, "Trusting God through the Storm". With Egg Story snippet #4 fresh on our minds, this one feels especially timely, but it is a different storm story than the one in snippet #4.

We are hoping it will be released in April, and we cannot wait to share it with you.
