The summer sun has been leaning heavy over Clarksville, Ohio this July. We have spent many of our afternoons finding the shade, making sure our girls have plenty of fresh water, and sharing a cold fruit smoothie on the porch while the world slows down. There is a specific kind of peace that settles over a farm when the evening air finally starts to cool.
It is during these quiet hours, when the porch light flickers on and the cicadas begin their song, that we realize how many stories are happening right under our noses. We are so excited to finally share those stories with you. We are officially opening the preorders for our very first book, Evening on the Porch, Volume One: July 2026.
This book has been a labor of love, gathered from the daily moments of stewardship and grace we experience here at Faithful Flock Farm. The Voices of the Flock
When we first started Tales of Faithful Flock Farm, we didn't realize how much our feathered friends had to say. We quickly learned that every chicken and rooster in our flock has a personality as unique as the colorful eggs they provide. Evening on the Porch features 14 true stories, each told from the perspective of a different bird.
You will hear from Big Red, our handsome Rhode Island Red rooster who takes his job as protector very seriously. He often shares his wisdom about keeping order and watching over the hens, reminding us of the steady protection God provides for us every day. Big Red is the first to greet the dawn and the last to settle in, and his stories are filled with the quiet strength of a faithful guardian.
Then, of course, there is Road Runner. If you have visited the farm, you likely know he is rarely still and never quiet for long. Road Runner has a habit of interrupting the other birds with his own version of events, usually just before Big Red has to remind him to wait his turn. His stories are fast-paced, funny, and full of the energy that makes life here so vibrant.
Finding Faith in the Ordinary
We believe that farming is a calling, a daily act of obedience to God. Our faith-based approach means we look for His handiwork in the smallest details, from the hatching of a new chick to the way the evening light hits the coop. These stories are more than just farm tales; they are reflections of the lessons we are learning about trust, patience, and gratitude.
In one chapter, you might find yourself laughing at the antics of the Seramas, our tiny escape artists who seem to find a way through every fence we build. In another, you might feel a tug at your heart as a mama hen describes the fierce love she has for her brood. We hope these stories remind you that God can use even the smallest voices to share His truth and beauty.
Life on the farm isn't always flashy or perfect. It involves muddy boots, early mornings, and the occasional unexpected adventure, but through it all, we see a consistent pattern of care. We wanted to capture that feeling of sitting on a rocking chair, watching the sunset, and realizing just how blessed we are to be part of this creation.
