Evening on the Porch: July Edition is Almost Here!

Post Categories

July has a way of slowing things down on the farm. The afternoon sun hangs heavy over the pastures, and the air is thick with the sweet scent of clover and sun-warmed grass. While the garden is bursting with life, we often find ourselves retreating to the shade of the back porch during those quiet, golden hours between the final egg collection and the evening chores.

There is something special about sitting together with a cold fruit smoothie in hand, listening to the rhythmic sounds of the flock settling in for the night. It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and, most importantly, for the stories that unfold in the coop and the runs every single day.

We are so excited to announce that the July Edition of Evening on the Porch: Stories from Faithful Flock Farm is almost here. This new collection of tales will be available this August, and we cannot wait to share the heart of our farm with you through the eyes of our feathered friends.

A Different Kind of Storytelling

At Faithful Flock Farm, we believe that every living creature has a story to tell if we are quiet enough to listen. Our "Evening on the Porch" series grew out of a desire to share the daily blessings, the small miracles, and even the humorous mishaps that happen when you are raising a flock with heart and hands-on care.

This August, you will be able to step inside the coop and hear the "inside scoop" from the chickens and roosters themselves. This isn't just a book about farming; it is a glimpse into the personalities, the community, and the quiet trust that defines our lives here in Clarksville, Ohio.

Meet the Narrators: Big Red and Road Runner

Every story needs a strong voice, and in the July Edition, you will hear from two of our most prominent characters.

Big Red, our handsome Rhode Island Red rooster, takes his job very seriously. He is the guardian of the girls, the keeper of the peace, and the one who ensures that everything runs like clockwork. In this new edition, Big Red shares his wisdom on what it means to lead with a servant’s heart. He tells the stories of keeping the flock safe from summer storms and making sure every hen finds her way to the best foraging spots.

Of course, no day at the farm is ever entirely quiet when Road Runner is around. If you have visited us, you might have seen a skinny little rooster skidding around corners or leaping over unsuspecting hens just for the fun of it.

Road Runner is known for his speed and his tendency to interrupt. In the July Edition, he offers his own version of events, usually at a much faster pace than Big Red would prefer. Whether he is "helping" with the new chicks or discovering a particularly large beetle in the woods, Road Runner brings a sense of joy and high-energy fun to every page.

Witnessing God’s Work in the Flock

July was a month of growth and change for us. We saw new life in the nursery, where the tiniest chirps reminded us of the beauty of God’s creation. Watching those small chicks grow their first feathers and take their first steps onto the fresh green grass is a daily lesson in patience and stewardship.

The stories in the July Edition capture these moments of transition. They tell of the moving days, the extension of the runs to accommodate our growing family, and the way the older hens teach the younger ones the rhythm of farm life.

Through these stories, we hope to share the faith that grounds us. Farming is rarely about flashy marketing or high-speed results. It is about the steady, daily obedience of showing up, laying fresh bedding, providing clean water, and trusting that the Lord will provide for the needs of the flock.

A Special Preview for Our Egg Customers

We love our local community, and we want to offer you a little "taste" of what is to come. Starting very soon, when you stop by the farm to pick up a dozen of our brown, white, or green farm-fresh eggs, you will receive a special gift.

Tucked in with your eggs, you will find a few preview pages from the upcoming Evening on the Porch: July Edition. It is our way of saying thank you for supporting small, local agriculture and for being a part of the Faithful Flock Farm family.

These preview pages feature a few of the flock's favorite July memories, giving you something to smile about while you prepare your morning omelet or a family dinner. If you find yourself wanting to know how the stories end, you won't have to wait long for the full edition.

Come for the Eggs, Stay for the Stories

Life at Faithful Flock Farm is a journey we are blessed to share with our loyal companions, Milo and Panda Bear, and of course, our wonderful customers. Milo, our white Maltese, and Panda Bear, our black-and-white Shih Tzu, are always there to welcome visitors with a friendly wag or a watchful eye.

We invite you to experience the farm in a new way this summer. Come for the high-quality, pasture-raised eggs that our happy hens work so hard to provide, but stay for the heart and the stories that make this place more than just a farm.

Big Red is already working hard to keep the narrators on track, and Road Runner is practicing his best "dramatic pauses" for the final chapters. We can't wait to see you on the porch!
