Sunday: God Sends Help Again

Post Categories

The sun rose slowly over the pastures this morning, casting a gentle gold light across the coops and the garden. After such a full week and a truly wonderful celebration for Grandpa yesterday, the farmhouse felt quiet and still. It is that sweet, peaceful kind of tired that comes after you have poured your heart into something and seen God’s hand move in every detail.

As we look back on the week, from the busy preparations to the laughter that filled the garage yesterday, one truth stands out clearer than the rest: God provides help right when it is needed. 🤍

The Peace After the Celebration

Sunday mornings on the farm have a rhythm all their own. After the excitement of Grandpa’s seventy-ninth birthday, we took a moment to just breathe and be grateful. It was a warm morning, so instead of our usual routine, we sat on the porch with a fresh fruit smoothie and simply watched the flock begin their day.

Milo, our sweet Maltese, and Panda Bear, our black-and-white Shih Tzu, were more than happy to join in on the relaxation. They spent most of Saturday keeping a close eye on Mama, sensing she was tuckered out from the long days of prep. Even dogs seem to know when it is time to rest and when it is time to offer a little extra companionship.

Looking across the farm, it is hard not to think about how much has happened in just seven days. We started the week with big plans and a long list of chores, and we ended it with a reminder that we are never carrying the load alone.

A Week of Answered Prayers

Every day this week felt like a lesson in trust. On Monday, we saw how God sends help before we even ask. Whether it was a neighbor stopping by or family members jumping in to move coops, the help arrived exactly when the task felt too heavy for one person.

By Tuesday, we were reminded that God uses unexpected things. We often view interruptions or broken gates as problems, but many times, those moments are just invitations to see where God is already working. Wednesday brought the "daily bucket of water," a quiet reflection on how faithfulness is found in ordinary care. It isn't always the flashy moments that matter most, but the steady, daily obedience of showing up for the flock.

Then came Friday and the Wellness Center. We were reminded that caring for one life is more important than finishing a task. Taking the time to nurse a sick bird or check on a chick isn't a distraction from the work; it is the work.

When Things Go Wrong, You Don’t Have To Go With Them

Saturday was the big day we had all been waiting for. Grandpa was being celebrated, and even though he found out about the surprise a little early, the joy in the air was unmistakable. But as with any big event, there were hurdles.

When the tent company called to say they had the wrong date, it would have been very easy to let frustration take over. Mama felt that rising panic, the kind we all feel when our plans start to crumble. But then she remembered Grandpa’s own words: "When things go wrong, you don't have to go with them."

What a beautiful piece of wisdom. Getting upset doesn't fix a tent, and it certainly doesn't help the chickens get fed. Mama stopped, took a breath, and realized that if the tent wasn't part of the plan, God would provide another way.

And He did.

God Shows Up in Work Boots

The most moving part of the entire week was watching how God answered our prayers through the people around us. Joey was a complete trouper, coming back day after day to help with chores and water the birds. Then, when the tent situation seemed impossible, Grandpa, Uncle Rick, Joey, John, and Colton all rolled up their sleeves.

They didn't just talk about helping; they put on their work boots and got it done. By the time the guests arrived, the tent was up, the garage was ready, and the farm was beautiful. We often look for God in big, dramatic miracles, but so often, He shows up in work boots. He shows up through a grandson who carries extra water or a friend who stays late to hang decorations.

As the garage filled with family and friends, we realized the tent wasn't even the most important part. The stories were. Hearing Grandpa’s brothers and sisters share memories of their childhood, hearing friends talk about his kindness and hard work: that was the true harvest of seventy-nine years of faithful living.

Teenage Chickens and Unexpected Tours

Even in the middle of a party, the farm life doesn't stop. We were so surprised by how many of our guests wanted to see the birds! Mama found herself leading tours, introducing people to our Seramas (the smallest chickens in the world) and our Ayam Cemani, which people often call the "Lamborghini" of chickens because of their striking, all-black appearance.

Gideon, our little rooster, was quite convinced the party was mostly for him. He got to go on walkabouts, spend time in the grass, and even "help" Mama collect eggs in the Mercy Coop. It was a very good day to be a rooster at Faithful Flock Farm.

Of course, the day ended with a little bit of "chicken chaos." Just when we thought we could finally rest, we discovered a group of teenage chickens had decided the roof of the House of Joy was the perfect place to roost! It took a bit of encouragement and a few rakes to get our young escape artists back on the ground, but even that brought a laugh. Life on the farm is never boring, and it is rarely predictable.

Looking Ahead with Gratitude

As we close out this week and look toward the next, our hearts are just full. We are a small farm built on faith, stewardship, and the belief that every egg represents steady care. This week showed us that when we reach the end of our own strength, God is already there with a plan and a helping hand.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make Grandpa’s birthday so special. Thank you to the family who shared their stories, the friends who brought their joy, and the hands that helped carry the load. 🤍

Think About This

Have you ever spent so much time worrying about the details that you almost missed the blessing God was preparing? God often works through ordinary people doing ordinary things. This week, who has God placed in your life to help carry the load? And who might God be asking you to help?

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."
: Galatians 6:9 KJV

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being faithful in every season of life. Thank You for family, friends, and the people You place around us to help carry our burdens. Help us remember that even when things do not go according to our plans, You are still working. Teach us not to become weary when the work feels heavy. Give us grateful hearts to recognize the blessings You provide and willing hands to help others when they are in need.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
